For years, gamers have wished for a gaming console like the Asus ROG Zephyrus G14. It packs a lot of power into its small 14-inch body, thanks to the new AMD Ryzen 9-4900HS processor and Nvidia GeForce RTX 2060 Max-Q GPU. It also comes at a fair price, starting at $1,049. It's not only one of the best gaming laptops on the market; it's also one of the best laptops in general.

Perhaps too perfect to be real, the Zephyrus G14: More than 11 hours of battery life, outstanding gaming and virtual reality efficiency, thermal management that never gets hot to the touch, and a design that will please gamers while still looking professional. This is in addition to several exclusive customization options

Price and Design

The Asus ROG Zephyrus G14 is a 14-inch gaming laptop with loads of power at a lower price than you would expect from a gaming laptop. The Zephyrus G14, which starts at $1,049 and goes up to $1,999, packs a lot of punch into its small, sleek body.

It's a powerhouse with an AMD Ryzen 9-4900HS processor, 16GB of RAM, and an Nvidia GeForce RTX 2060 Max-Q GPU with 6GB of VRAM that can handle almost all gaming requirements. Also it's equipped for both gaming and efficiency, with a 1TB SSD and a 1080p 120Hz display.

The Zephyrus G14's base model costs $1,049 and comes with a Ryzen 9-4900HS CPU and Nvidia GTX 1650 GPU. You'll still get a reasonable gaming machine with the RAM and storage room cut in half (8GB and 512GB SSD standard, respectively) but without the skill provided by more powerful setups.

The $1,999 configuration is the most you can get from that line. It has the same Ryzen 9-4900HS CPU, RTX 2060 Max-Q GPU, RAM, and storage as our review unit, but it has a 1440p, 60Hz display screen.

The lightweight Zephyrus G14 is the smallest and lightest gaming laptop on the market, measuring 12.8 x 8.7 x 0.7 inches and weighing just 3.5 pounds. The frame, deck, and lid are made of rigid magnesium and aluminium, which contributes to the computer's light weight.

However, a couple of features have been removed from the compact design in order to reduce weight and scale. The lack of a webcam is particularly evident. Although the display's slim bezels don't leave much space for a camera above it, there's also no webcam beneath it or on the laptop deck. You'll need a different camera if you want to video chat or stream yourself.

There are many ventilation grilles around the outside edge of the casing, which are an essential part of any high-performance laptop with heat-generating components inside. The grilles have an angular look and a triangular three-dimensional shape, and the design has a sleek flourish along the back hinge edge.

Ports and Connectivity

A variety of useful ports can be found on the laptop's sides. Two USB 3.0 ports and a USB Type-C port are on the right. The power connector, an HDMI 2.0b output, and another USB-C port on the left provide charging for the laptop as well as output to a monitor via DisplayPort. Headphones and microphones are also assisted by a hybrid audio jack.

The Zephyrus G14 also has Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.0 for wireless networking. As a result, even without an Ethernet link, there is plenty of speed for gaming, as well as quick connectivity for wireless devices like mice and speakers.

Display

It has a 14-inch 1080 120-Hz display, but it only has a lower 60-Hz refresh rate.It has a brightness of 323 nits, which beats out the Dell G7 15 (303 nits) and makes the Asus ROG Strix Scar III (275 nits) and Razer Blade 15 (275 nits) look a little dim.

Performance

The AMD Ryzen 9 4900HS processor and 16GB of memory in the Zephyrus G14 make it a powerful productivity and media-editing computer.Running numerous tabs at once is just a piece of cake. And we don’t even have to mention the video editing and rendering in 4k.

Battery life and Thermal efficiency

With an impressive 11 hours and 32 minutes of uninterrupted web browsing at 150 nits screen brightness, the Zephyrus G14 outperformed the competition. The Zephyrus G14 nearly doubles the battery life, providing hours and hours of use without the need for a wall outlet. That's long enough that you can go out for the day without even needing to carry the charger.

The underside of the laptop reached 88 degrees Fahrenheit during the normal heat test, which requires 15 minutes of streaming full HD footage. This is far below the 95-degree mark where we consider the heat to be unbearable. The topside keyboard and touchpad remained cool as well, with temperatures of 82 and 74 degrees, respectively.

The laptop gets significantly warm under a heavier load for longer periods of time, such as gaming for 45 minutes, but the Zephyrus G14 doesn't seem to get the overly heated hot - spots which some gaming systems do.

Should you buy?

The Asus ROG Zephyrus G14 is not only a powerful gaming laptop; it's also the world's smallest gaming laptop and has the longest-lasting battery of any gaming laptop we've seen. The display is incredibly stable, the audio is rich and powerful, and the G14's AMD Ryzen 9-4900HS processor and Nvidia GeForce RTX 2060 Max-Q graphics card provide some of the best performance you'll find outside of a gaming desktop. The fact that you can get all of this for a reasonable price is also impressive.

The lack of a webcam and the shockingly shoddy-looking keyboard are two noticeable flaws in the method. Apart from the minor issues we discovered during our Asus ROG Zephyrus G14 review, Asus' new gaming laptop is an incredibly powerful and well-designed gaming laptop. It outperforms any gaming machine of comparable scale, and sometimes by a significant margin. It easily outperforms the more costly Razer Blade Pro, as well as the nearest rivals in terms of price and portability. It's one of the best gaming laptops ever made and our favourite tiny gaming laptop.
